How to Apply to College

  1. Do some prior research into majors you want to pursue, and schools you think you would be a good fit in.
  2. Create an account on CommonApp- this makes the application process extremely easy.
  3. Complete the general information page and add the colleges that you want to apply to through the search menu.
  4. Make sure to send all documents and necessary information that the college is asking for by the appropriate deadline- a general rule is to always submit everything necessary a week before the deadline so there is no worry about being late.
  5. Complete all the prompts and submit your application!

How to Boost your Chances of Getting Into Your Dream School

  1. Participate in many extracurricular activities and clubs. Examples include: Science Olympiad, Math Team, National Honor Society, etc.
  2. Take high rigor classes throughout high school, such as AP classes to show colleges that you are ready for college level work.
  3. Read the essay prompts multiple times and brainstorm responses to the prompt- this should not be done in one sitting, but rather multiple sessions.
  4. Make sure to get teacher recommendations from teachers you have a close bond with and have a high opinion of you, it will help!
  5. Get a college mentor that can help you through the application process to help assist you through any possible troubles that you may have.
